Regional Scholarships

We post any regional scholarship info that is sent directly to Vance Charter School here. Most regional scholarships have deadlines in the spring. Below is the list of scholarships that were received last year. As we receive application links and deadlines for the Class of 2025, we will make updates to this list.


NC Community Foundation - This foundation partners with donors across the state to administer scholarship funds to students. Approximately 130 NCCF scholarships using the NCCF Universal Scholarships Application will open for 2025 applications on Jan. 7 and close on March 3. About a dozen other scholarships have separate applications with different due dates. You must apply to each of those scholarships individually within the Scholarships Portal.  They encourage you to apply well before the deadline. 

Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship - The National Society of the Colonial Dames of American in the State of NC offers multiple scholarships at the state level, and some local committees offer scholarships as well. Click the link to the view the application. Applications and all supporting materials are due by 11:59pm on February 16, 2025.

Alpha Delta Kappa, Rho Chapter - 4 scholarships available from this organizations for women educators (see Mrs. Seifert for application for the 1st 3):

  1. Eunice Riggins Memorial Scholarship is open to any young woman who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in North Carolina that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a 4-year college or university in NC next fall. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 10% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite score of 25, good character and participation in extracurricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration.
  2. Mary Rose Mills-Linda Rankin Memorial Scholarship is open to any student who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in NC that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university next fall. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 10% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1290 or ACT composite score of 27, good character and participation in extracurricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration.
  3. Clare Johnson Marley-Mary Earle Berger Fine Arts Scholarship is open to any student who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in NC that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university next fall, and who is declaring his/her major in an area of the fine arts. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 20% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite score of 25, good character and participation in extracurricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration. (Samples of talent are required to be submitted with the application.)
  4. NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship is also for $2000 and is open to a male or female, on track to graduate this spring, planning to pursue an education degree at a school of higher learning.  Specific eligibility requirements are:  SAT score of 990 to 1130 or ACT composite score of 20 to 24; unweighted GPA of 2.5 to 3.5; good character, integrity, leadership potential and service to school, community and church.  Students should apply for this scholarship through the North Carolina Community Foundation at www.nccommunityfoundation.​org .

SECU "People Helping People" Scholarship - The NC SECU Foundation Scholarship for high school seniors is now open. SECU Foundation takes an active role in assisting communities across NC because we believe in "People Helping People ''. To support this commitment, the People Helping People scholarship was established to help NC public high school students attend college. The Office of Charter Schools gets to select 10 charter school students to receive scholarships, awarding up to $10,000 over 4 years per student. Applicants must be planning to attend one of the 16 public colleges in the UNC system. You must apply by Friday, February 21st at noon to be considered as a Vance Charter School nominee. NC Golden LEAF Scholarships - scholarships available both for 2 and 4 year colleges in NC; see website for eligibility details and how to apply. Applications for the 4-year college scholarships are due by March 1, 2025.

NCHSAA Scholarship Opportunities for Student-Athletes - NCHSAA offers several scholarships for student-athletes.  Each scholarship has its own application deadline.  The following scholarships have applications that are now open:

Cross Creek Outdoor Supplies - Cross Creek Outdoor Supplies, LLC in Henderson is sponsoring a scholarship to be used in Fall 2025.  The application deadline is February 15, 2025 and the scholarship will be awarded the first weekend in March 2025. 

Cypress Creek Renewables Scholarships - Curious about future careers in solar energy or another STEM-related field? Cypress Creek is awarding scholarships to students in our county in 2025. The application deadline is April 14, 2025.

North Carolina Home Builders Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. (NCHBECF) will award up to eight $1,000 scholarships to community college or technical school students in each of NCHBA’s eight regions. Scholarships will be awarded to students who are entering a program considered to be a skilled trade in the construction industry (i.e., carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.).  Applications are due by April 30, 2025. 

Woodward-Gholson Endowment Scholarship - Vance Charter has been invited to nominate 3 students for consideration of this local scholarship for post-secondary education. Eligible students must be a member of The Church of the Holy Innocents or resident of Vance County, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, in need of financial support, with strong academics, and a commitment to community service.  Applications are due to Mrs. Seifert by Friday, March 21.

Warren County Cattlemen's Association will award two $1000 scholarships.  All applicants must be residents of Warren County and attending or planning to attend a North Carolina accredited college, community college or technical institute. See Mrs. Seifert for applications. The deadline is Friday, April 25, 2025.

Optimist Club of Henderson offers two scholarships. Each scholarship is for $1000, and may be renewed annually for 3 more years assuming certain requirements are met.  To be eligible to apply, you must be a resident of Vance County, have attained at least a 2.5 gpa combined in the junior and senior years of high school, and have an acceptance letter to attend a university, college, trade school or other institute of higher learning. Applications are due by 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 and are available in the high school office.

Henderson Optimist Club Oratorical Contest - The Henderson Optimist Club  is hosting an oratorical contest on March 22, 2025. The contest is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking, perfect self-expression, improve communication skills and provide the opportunity to compete for a college scholarship.  This year's topic is "How Optimism Has Guided Me Through Trying Times".  If you would like to enter the contest, you must complete a short interest form (that requires a parent signature) and return it to Mrs. Seifert by 12:00 noon on Friday, February 28.  

Brent Strong Foundation Scholarship - The foundation is offering 3 scholarships to local high school seniors. Applicants must either be a child of a law enforcement officer/first responder or have intentions to pursue a career in healthcare or criminal justice directly after high school. Applications are available from Mrs. Seifert. The deadline to apply is April 11, 2025.

Zion Methodist Church is offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside in Warren County. Applicants do not have to be a member of Zion Methodist Church, but must be a Warren County resident heading to an accredited post-grad institution. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2025.  The application is available from Mrs. Seifert.

Couch Oil Cares will offer 6 scholarships of $2000 each to deserving high school students who reside in their service area (you must be a resident of Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake, or Wilson county.)  The application deadline is Friday, April 25, 2025. Granville Health System Foundation 2025 Sam Perry Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship fund was established for the purpose of assisting a Granville County resident who has been accepted into or is currently in a two-year or four-year allied health program at an accredited school and who intends to pursue a career in the allied healthcare field. The deadline for submitting a completed scholarship application is April 30, 2025 at 5:00pn ET*.* More info is available at www.ghshospital.org/ghs-foundation.

Bob R McGuire Scholarship - The North Carolina Child Support Council is offering a scholarship opportunity for seniors heading to college or trade school in 2025. Scholarship amount: $2500; Deadline: April 18, 2025. More information and the online application is available at https://nccscouncil.org/scholarship-history/

Lord Granville Agricultural Heritage Association Scholarship offers a scholarship to students for post high school study in the fields of Agriculture, Family and Consumer Science (Home Economics) or related subjects. This program is open to any student who is resident of Granville County, NC or a relative of a member of the Lord Granville Agricultural Heritage Association. The Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors. Previous recipients may reapply to be considered for their sophomore through senior year of college by submitting a new application. The application must be submitted by May 1, 2025.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Nu Chi Omega offers three available scholarships for graduating seniors in Vance or Granville County. Applications are due on April 25, 2025. Application forms are available online - https://nuchiomegaaka.com/scholarships/.
