Volunteer Experience

Are you involved in the community, donating your time to a cause that is important to you? If not, think about how you can get involved. Service to others helps the community, and it's also beneficial to you:
  1. It provides a healthy boost to your self-esteem, self-confidence and life satisfaction.
  2. You gain real-world experience and can learn about different career paths and make connections.
  3. Volunteer work is viewed very favorably by colleges, scholarship committees and employers. You will be prompted to list volunteer work on your college applications and should definitely include it on a resume in a job search. Try to keep track of it throughout high school, and going forward in life, so that you can easily list it on a resume or application.
Need some ideas?  Below is a list of places around the community where students can get involved. If you have an interest that isn't represented here, contact Mrs. Seifert for assistance locating resources, or consider developing your own project!
