State & National Scholarships

The American Society of Women Engineers offers scholarships to women who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering, engineering technology, or fields related to engineering at an ABET-accredited program.  **Applications are due March 31, 2024. ** Complete one application to be considered for multiple scholarships.   

The Fidelity Scholars Program combines a generous annual needs-based scholarship with robust wrap-around services that support students’ persistence to degree or certificate attainment. The program is working to identify and support approximately 2,500 talented students from Fidelity’s geographical priority areas in the US .This year's program is open to underrepresented and historically underserved students ages 16-24 who are permanent residents of Florida, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas and Washington DC. 

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship - 150 awards, $20,000 each, Deadline: October 2, 2023

Questbridge National College Match program - A college admission and scholarship process through which high-achieving, low-income students can be "matched" — admitted early with full four-year scholarships to QuestBridge college partners. The Match Scholarship is offered as part of a generous financial aid package provided by the college, and it is worth over $200,000. The deadline to apply is September 26, 2023. Finalists who do not match can apply for free to any of our college partners through QuestBridge Regular Decision

Questbridge College Prep Scholars Program - Program open to high school juniors. The application opens in early February each year, and it closes in late March. College Prep Scholars are awarded various opportunities throughout the summer that are designed to strengthen their college applications. When students apply as juniors, their application will automatically carry over to the National College Match when they are seniors, giving them a head start. Deadline: March 20, 2024

Gates Scholarship - highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Ideal candidates will be top 10% of his/her class with demonstrated leadership ability and exceptional personal success skills. Deadline: Sept 15, 2023

Robertson Scholars Leadership Program - provides eight semesters of full tuition, room and board, and most mandatory fees for Scholars at Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill. Scholars also have access to generous funding for up to three summer experiences, funding for conferences throughout the academic year, and for two semesters of study abroad. Application deadline: November 15, 2023.

NC Promise - Through the NC Promise, the state has significantly reduced student tuition costs to $500 per semester at four UNC System institutions: Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and Western Carolina University.

NC Community Foundation manages 150 scholarship funds across the state.

Mike Rowe Works Scholarship - This scholarship is for high school seniors who are enrolling in an approved trade program at an accredited 2-year college, vocational or technical school, or other approved technical institute in the US.

Scott & Kim Verplank Foundation Scholarship ($10,000, 1 award) This is a renewable scholarship for college-bound seniors who had a childhood diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes ($10,000, 25 awards, Deadline: April 15, 2024) This scholarship is for students ages 8-18 who are working on an inspiring service project, or have done so within the last 12 months. You must be working as an individual to lead your service work.

ASHRAE Scholarship for High School Seniors Are you planning to major in engineering at an approved school?*(Check out the link to find out if your institution meets the criteria for eligibility.) Do you have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0?  Are you within the top 30% of your class? If you answered "YES" to all of the above, check out the scholarship for a chance at $3,000 towards your education.
