Scholarships

There are many scholarship opportunities available - based on academics, special activities, financial need, demographics, etc. When applying to college, be sure to check individual college websites for opportunities specific to each school. In addition you should explore national, state and local scholarship opportunities that are available for use at any school. Below we will post scholarship information that is sent directly to Vance Charter School, along with links to general scholarship websites.

Scholarship Postings Shared with Vance Charter School

  • Henderson Junior Woman's Club is offering 3 scholarships this year. All are open to both male and female applicants. Applications are due by January 7, 2023.

    1. The Sallie Southall Cotton scholarship worth $500 is offered to a senior planning to attend a four-year college/university.
    2. The Linda Weaver scholarship worth $300 is offered to a senior planning to attend a community college.
    3. The Stack K. Barnett scholarship worth $300 is more specified.  It is offered to a senior planning to attend Vance Granville Community College in health related fields.

    The application forms are available from Mrs. Seifert (and were emailed to students in December). In addition to the form, each applicant will also need to provide the following.

    ·      Recent photo

    ·      A personal letter as to why the student desires to continue her education, the student’s future plans, and why financial aid is necessary.

    ·      Letter of recommendation from a school principal, guidance counselor, or teacher.

    ·      Letter of recommendation from a business or professional person other than school personnel.

    ·      High School Transcript with grades through first semester senior year, SAT scores (optional this year), class rank, and grade point averages (weighted and unweighted)

    ·      FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form

    All information from the applicants needs to be uploaded and emailed tohendersonjwceducation@​gmail.comby January 25, 2023.  Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview ( to be held the week of January 10).

  • Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators - Gamma Chi Chapter is offering a $500 scholarship, renewable annually, for females living in Warren or Vance county who plan to pursue a degree in education. Students who plan to attend a 4-year college, or who plan to start at a community college and then transfer to a 4-year college, are eligible. Applications are available from Mrs. Seifert. Deadline to apply is January 18, 2023.

  • Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship- The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the state of NC will award scholarships to NC high school seniors to be used at any NC college or university. 1st place - $3000, 2nd place - $1000, 3rd place - $800 and 3 4th places - $400, plus local committees may provide smaller scholarships to local finalists. The application must be completed and supporting materials uploaded online no later than 11:59pm on February 5, 2023.

  • NC Golden LEAF Scholarships - These are open to high school seniors who reside in a qualifying NC county, demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend a participating NC public or private university or community college. The application deadline for college/university scholarships is March 1, 2023. The deadlines for community college scholarships are set by each school.
