Cell Phone Usage Policy

  • Students may have cell phones at school, but they should be turned off and secured, out of sight.
  • Cell phones should not be used by students at any time during the academic school day (7:45 AM – 3:10 PM). If a student is found to be using his or her cell phone during the academic school day, the cell phone will be confiscated at that time and turned in to the Principal or Curriculum Director.
  • Students may turn on and use cell phones in the school building after their last academic class is over and they have been dismissed from their final class of the day.
  • A first offense of the policy above results in a one-time return of the cell phone to the student’s parent/guardian at the end of the school day.
  • Second offense of cell phone use will result in confiscation of the student’s cell phone for the remainder of the school year.
  • Any student found using a cell phone during any classroom testing environment will have the phone confiscated immediately.  The use of a cell phone during testing comes under the “Cheating” clause of the school’s disciplinary code.  Whether or not the student is texting, Instant Messaging, or merely has the telephone in their personal possession, this is a serious violation of the school’s disciplinary code regarding testing integrity.
  • Students should not use cell phones out of the classroom in any other campus environment, to include bathroom facilities.  The telephones in rooms should be used to contact parents or students should go to the office to call.  Again, use of a cell phone at any time during the academic school day is a violation of the school’s disciplinary code.
