Policy on Student Use/Possession of Cell Phones- Students may have cell phones a school, if they are kept in book bags or lockers and ARE NOT in an active/on status.
- Cell phones MAY NOT BE USED BY STUDENTS AT ANY TIME DURING THE ACADEMIC SCHOOL DAY. If a student is found in possession of a cell phone during the academic school day, the cell phone will be confiscated and turned in to the Principal or Assistant Principal.
- Students may turn on and use cell phones in the school building AFTER THEIR LAST ACADEMIC CLASS IS OVER AND THEY HAVE BEEN DISMISSED FROM THEIR FINAL CLASS OF THE DAY.
- A first offense of the policy above results in a one-time return of the cell phone to the student’s parent/guardian at the end of the school day. This is noted in the school’s disciplinary code.
- Any second offense of illegal cell phone possession will result in confiscation of the student’s cell phone for the remainder of the school year. This is noted in the school’s disciplinary code.
- Any student found in possession of a cell phone during any classroom testing environment will have the phone confiscated immediately. The use of a cell phone during testing comes under the “Cheating” clause of the school’s disciplinary code. Whether or not the student is texting, doing Instant Messaging or merely has the telephone in their personal possession, this is a serious violation of the school’s disciplinary code regarding testing integrity.
- Students will not use cell phones out of the classroom in any other campus environment, to include bathroom facilities. The telephones in rooms should be used to contact parents, or students should go to the office to call. Again, use of a cell phone at any time during academic school hours is a violation of the school’s disciplinary code.
