What Is Service Learning?

Service learning is an education term for youth learning in their school or community to perform socially needed tasks. Students are taught citizenship, academic subjects, skills, and values. Service is integrated into the school's core curriculum. Service learning engages young people in addressing significant unmet needs in their schools and communities. The students subsequently analyze and reflect on their experience.
